Softball: Glendale, LA Mission and LA Valley

The Glendale Community College Vaqueros traveled to Orange County to take on the Orange Empire Conference's Santiago Canyon College Hawks. This, after being off for ten days and having five games canceled due to rain. 

Colorado State University Pueblo transfer Mia Sanchez got the job done in the circle pitching her third seven-inning complete game of the season striking out eight and her two run double to right center in the third inning gave the Vaqueros the lead for good in route to the teams 13th win in 15 tries with the 6-1 victory. Annaliese Ruiz made her career debut hitting in the lead off position. Ruiz did a great job at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and swiped two bases. Azusena Lopez extended her hitting streak to nine straight games after having two doubles. Jazmin Jaquez recorded her fifth multi-hit game. JorJa Hernandez swiped two bases. 

LA Mission powers their way to the second straight double header sweep of the season after Tuesday’s 16-0 and 11-3 decisions against the Dons of Santa Ana. Erika Deniz had a team-high six hits and scored five times in the DH sweep at Sylmar Independent Baseball League field. Deniz got the win in the circle in the second game as she pitched five innings. Tatiyana Valenzuela finished second in hits with five, had four runs driven in, doubled three times & homered once. Rachel Lowry drove home four runs and knocked in a bomb in each game. The 🦅 had 18 extra base hits on the day (including 13 doubles and 5 homeruns). Mission improves to 6-9 overall.

LA Valley were swept at home in their double header vs. Western State Conference Northern Division rival in the Vaqueros of Santa Barbara City. The Monarchs were outscored 24-10 and are now 4-14 overall and 2-6 against the North. Jovanna Ross finished in a tie with Briana Fierro with four hits. Tarryn Macias had three hits including a home run and a double. Ross and Macias each drove home two runs.
