For the first time since 2018, the fifth ranked Los Angeles Mission Eagles women’s volleyball team faced off against the then WSC Southern Division opponent, Bakersfield College Renegades. The Renegades (3-11 overall) had a freshman outside hitter by the name of Penelope Zepeda and Zepeda finished her two seasons (18 and 19) with 622 kills. Zepeda is now in her first season as head coach since the retirement of 20-year coaching legend Carl Ferreira. The Eagles get their seventh 3-set sweep of the season by the set scores of 25-23, 26-24 and 25-15 improving their perfect record to 15-0 overall and 14-0 at the Eagles Nest heading into Friday’s Top 7 State and WSC Northern Division opener against the 10-1 Santa Barbara City Vaqueros. The Vaqueros unbeaten streak came to an end at home against No.11 ranked Santa Monica College in a 3-set defeat. The big showdown is slated for a 6pm start and will also be available via YouTube Live Stream at LAMC Eagles Sports Network.
